African Union Commission Observes Minutes of Silence for late President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela at celebration of International Women’s Day

As the international community converged at the African Union headquarters today, 8 March 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to celebrate the International Women’s Day on the theme: Vision of the African Women on Pan Africanism and Renaissance, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the AU Commission called on a minute of silence for late President Hugo Chavez Frias, of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela who was laid in state today. Dr. Dlamini-Zuma described President Chavez as a “son of Africa, a great revolutionary who fought hard for the economic emancipation of his people”.
