OVERVIEW: In commemoration of its 7th year anniversary on 31st January 2024, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) will host a special press briefing to engage with members of the media. This occasion marks a significant milestone in the existence of the organization since its establishment and official launch by the Heads-of States and Governments of the African Union in 2017. The first 7 years have witnessed transformative growth at institutional, strategic, and operational levels. Africa CDC, as a platform for strategic guidance and knowledge exchange among Member States, is steadfast in its commitment to continental health security.

Main Objective and Theme: The celebration aims to spotlight Africa CDC's progress, aligning with our mission and strategic contributions. The theme, "A Journey of commitment and action to safeguarding Africa’s Health Security," resonates with our dedication to championing African health security, as outlined in our recently launched second Strategic Plan (2023-2027). Hence, the leadership of Africa CDC is keen to interact with members of the media to share key highlights of the remarkable journey and strategic direction of Africa’s premier public health agency.
