Trade Observatory Unit

The Trade Observatory Unit of the African Union Commission is a specialised technical unit responsible for strengthening trade intelligence, data analysis, and evidence-based policymaking at the continental level through the African Trade Observatory. The Unit supports the African Union’s trade and integration agenda by generating reliable insights on trade flows, market access conditions, and structural trade trends across Africa.

The Unit plays a central role in monitoring and analysing intra-African trade, providing analytical support for the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and broader regional integration objectives

  • Monitoring Trade Integration
Tracking trends in intra-African trade, product diversification, and regional value chains to assess progress toward Africa’s integration and industrialisation goals.
