World Malaria Day: Zero Malaria Starts With Me
Today, the African Union Commission joins the world to celebrate the World Malaria Day by declaring the theme of the day: “Zero Malaria Starts with Me” and committing to step up the fight to end this deadly disease.
The theme is inspired by a continental campaign called Zero Malaria Starts With Me led by the Commission in partnership with the RBM Partnership to End Malaria to strengthen the fight against malaria through increased and sustained investment and political will in Africa. The Campaign is active in 14 AU Member States.

Teleconference Meeting of F15 and Task Force African Ministers of Finance
A teleconference session of African Ministers of Finance of F15 and the Task Force Ministers was convened on April 09, 2020 to reflect and combine efforts in providing a collective and coordinated response to the pandemic crisis.
The following Member States, Members of F15 and Task Force, took part in the teleconference: Cameroon, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Africa. The teleconference was chaired by H.E. M. Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of Finance and Budget of the Republic of Chad.

African Union and Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention launch Partnership to Accelerate COVID-19 Testing: Trace, Test and Track
The African Union Commission and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) have launched a new initiative, the Partnership to Accelerate COVID-19 Testing (PACT): Trace, Test & Track (CDC-T3). The partnership is to facilitate implementation of the Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19, endorsed by African Ministers of Health on 22 February 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and approved by the Bureau of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government on 26 March 2020.
Joint Statement of the meeting between Dr Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy and African Ambassadors to the International Civil Aviation Organization -ICAO on the Need to Support the Continental Strategy on COVID-19
1. The Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy H.E. Dr Amani Abou-Zeid and the African Ambassadors to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) met via video conference to discuss the urgent actions needed to contain the spread of COVID-19 and the continental strategy to assist Africa’s air transport industry during the recovery period.
Wellcome and DFID support Africa COVID-19 continental response with € 2.26 million
Wellcome and the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) have awarded a grant of EUR 2.26 million to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to support the COVID-19 response by African Union Member States. The grant was awarded as part of the DFID/Wellcome Epidemic Preparedness for Coronavirus grant and it is to support implementation of the Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Outbreak.
