H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

On the occasion of the third African Union – European Union agricultural ministerial conference, African Union and the European Union representatives for the first time endorsed a Political Declaration, accompanied by an action agenda, with the overall aim of further strengthening the Africa-EU partnership in food and farming at all levels.
25 June 2019, Addis Abeba: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat wishes to express his deepest condolences to the families of the national figures killed in the tragic events that occurred on Saturday 22 June 2019 in the Amhara region and in the capital Addis Abeba.
The Chairperson also wishes to reiterate the steadfast support of the African Union Commission to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in their pursuit of the national reform and reconciliation agenda in the country.
The Champion of the African Union(AU) theme of the year, H.E.Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasongo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea visited Tsore Refugee Camp, Asosa, Benishangul - Gumuz region in the Western part of Ethiopia as part of the activities lined-up visibility to forced to commemorate with with refugees, the 50th Anniversary of the adoption of the 1969 OAU Convention on Refugees.
Public health emergencies continue to be a major concern in Africa, thus threatening national, regional and global health security. A Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PHEOC) serves as a hub for coordinating preparedness and response to public health emergencies. It allows a well-coordinated response to public health emergencies by teams of multi-disciplinary and multi-sectorial experts using the Incident Management System (IMS). Only 14 AU Member States currently have a PHEOC and there is a need for capacity building to support the establishment and maintenance of functional PHEOCs by all Member States.
Third (3rd) Ministerial Conference of the African Union (AU) - European Union (EU) will be held under the theme: “Promoting Sustainable Regional Agricultural Value Chains”.
