H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, South Africa, January 27, 2018 – “What brings us together on this day is the common goal of working for the transformation of Africa,” H.E Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal and Chairperson of the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) stated during the opening session of the HSGOC in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - The 27th APR Forum of Heads of State and Government Participating in the African Peer Review Mechanism, was held on 27th January 2018, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The APR Forum was chaired by H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, who commended APRM Member States for their continuous support through contributions and willingness to partake in the APRM processes. The Chairperson also acknowledged the efforts made at the APRM since the 26th APR Forum, towards the Expended Mandate and the integration of the APRM as a specialised agency of the African Union.

Corruption has debilitating and corrosive effects on progress, stability and development of the continent. It impedes economic growth by discouraging foreign investments, creates distortion in resource allocation and competitive markets, increases the cost of doing business, and reduces the net-value of public spending.
