28 April 2022, Addis Ababa: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union Moussa Faki Mahamat welcomes the successful elections of the Speakers and Deputy Speakers of the Somali Senate and House of the People, conducted from 26 to 28 April 2022.

The Chairperson extends warm congratulations to Hon Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, newly elected Speaker of the Upper House, and Hon. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur “Madobe”, Speaker of the House of the People.

Addis Ababa, 25 April 2022: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat  welcomes the outcome of the Second Heads of State Conclave on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), held on 21 April 2022, in Nairobi, Kenya, particularly the decision to immediately deploy a regional force to restore peace and stability in the DRC.

The Chairperson commends H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Eastern Africa Leaders for their common efforts towards finding a sustainable solution to the situation in eastern DRC and the Great Lakes region as whole.

19 April 2022, The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat strongly condemns the bombardments in the Gaza Strip and the violent attacks in the Al-Aqsa mosque committed by Israeli security forces against Palestinian worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan.
