H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

I. Introduction
The teleconference joint meeting of Ministers of Health and Ministers of Transport on the Africa Against COVID-19: Saving Lives, Economies, and Livelihoods campaign to protect campaign to borders, economies and schools from COVID-19 was held on 19 August 2020 from 2:00-4:00 PM East Africa Time.
The African Union Commission convened a virtual meeting on 18 August 2020 with African ministers of health and transport to discuss progress made and status of the Continental Response to COVID-19, and to introduce the Africa CDC’s campaign, Africa Against COVID-19: Saving Lives, Economies, and Livelihoods.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives and livelihoods of the African citizenry, continues to be a matter of great concern on the continent.
Multisectoral partnership will deliver tools and expertise to identify and stop COVID-19 and other disease threats, and strengthen leadership for health security in Africa
Weekly interaction with members of the media to share critical updates on steps taken to implement the joint continental strategy for COVID-19 response; and to also highlight the coordinated efforts of African Union Member States to combat the pandemic in their respective countries.
