Addis Ababa, November, 04 2019: Over one third of the world’s forcibly displaced persons are in Africa, including 6.3 million refugees and asylum seekers and 14, 5 million IPDs, thus Africa has no option but to double its efforts to address these phenomena. Accordingly, the adoption of Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration respectively, underscores the recent global shift to put the refugees, asylum seekers, Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) and migration topics at centre stage in policy discourse in Africa and beyond.

African Union Receives Delegation from Pan-African Parliament

A delegation from the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), led by its Vice President, Hon. Chief Fortune Charumbira, called on H.E. Kwesi Quartey, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).
Chief Charumbira briefed H.E the DCP on matters arising from the Third Session of the Fifth Parliament that took place at the seat of the PAP in Midrand, South Africa.

Fellows of Chatham House African Public Health Leaders Programme Calls on the Deputy Chairperson

The 2018/19 Fellows of Chatham House African Public Health Leadership Programme undertook a study tour of the African Union Commission (AUC), to familiarize themselves with the work of the African Center for Diseases Control (CDC), and interact with the leadership of the AUC. The delegation was led by Mr. Adebusuyi Adeyemi, Assistant Fellowship Director, Chatham House Centre on Global Health Security.
