H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, met Elhadj As Sy, the Secretary General of International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and discussed ways of strengthening the current partnership between the AU Commission and IFRC in the areas of humanitarian action, humanitarian diplomacy and response to epidemics at the continental level.
To celebrate Africa Youth Month, the AU has organized a series of thematic activities across the month of November, aligned to the 1million by 2021 campaign objective which will create direct opportunities for one million young Africans in the areas of education, employment, entrepreneurship and engagement (4Es).

The maiden Pan African Conference on Children and Armed Conflict commenced today in Addis Ababa at the UN Conference Center. The three-day conference brought together children from Mali, South Sudan, Nigeria, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo to demand immediate and specific actions from decision-makers on the continent to address their plight and fashion-out mechanisms for better protection of children affected by armed conflict and war in Africa.
