Addis Ababa, 12th February 2019 – During the 34th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, the Office of the Legal Counsel, led by Amb. Namira Negm (Dr), has successfully overseen the election and nomination processes for membership into various Organs and institutions of the Union.
At the end of the voting, the Executive Council has elected Member States and individual candidates who obtained the required majority votes as follows:

Addis Ababa ,7th February 2019 -The Department of Human Resources, Science and Technology (HRST) together with World Skills International (WSI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) after the Opening Ceremony of the 34th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council at the AUC Headquarters to officially mark the partnership for the future.

African Union Unveiles a Statue of Former Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I

Addis Ababa, Febuary 10 2019: The African Union has unveiled the commemorative statue of Emperor Haile Selassie at the 32nd African Union Summit in Addisa Ababa on 10 February 2019 in Addis Ababa.
The statue of Emperor is an important recognition to his effort towards Africa’s liberation and unity leading to the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963.

DECISION ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENTAL FREE TRADE AREA (AfCFT)
Assembly:
• Endorsed the recommendations of African Union Ministers of Trade on:
Template on Tariff Liberalization which will be used by Member States in preparing the AfCFTA Schedules of Tariff Concessions; and the designation of Sensitive Products and Exclusion List on the basis of the following criteria: food security, national security, fiscal revenue, livelihood and industrialization.
