African Union Launches Its First Ever Supply Chain Platform

Hawassa, 15th January 2019: The African Union (AU) launched Supply Chain Platform during a workshop that has been held from 14 – 18 January 2019 in Hawassa, Ethiopia. The workshop serves as an experience sharing platform in the areas of supply chain management. In the same token, it is expected that the Forum will create community of public procurement and supply chain practitioners who will continue to work together.

Remarks by President Paul Kagame at the launch of the African Union Peace Fund

A good evening to you. I am very pleased to join you today to launch the African Union’s revitalised Peace Fund. Thank you for making the time to be here, especially the Heads of State and Government here present.

Promoting peace and security is one of the core functions of our Union. However, up to this point, we have lacked a credible mechanism to fund our priority operations in this domain. We depended too extensively on external resources.

Remarks by President Paul Kagame at the Closed Session of the 11th Extraordinary Summit of the African Union

Excellencies, we have a very substantial agenda of reports and proposals to consider today. So I only wish to make a few observations before the Chairperson of the Commission presents his update.

The first is to thank you very sincerely for making the time to participate in this Extraordinary Summit, the second one this year. It is a lot to ask. But we are getting the results we need and that would absolutely not be possible without sustained engagement at the highest level.

Opening Address by President Paul Kagame 11th Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Good morning. Let me begin by thanking His Excellency, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, along with the Government and people of Ethiopia for the warm hospitality and for serving once again as our host.

We also note that this is the Prime Minister’s first time attending a summit like this one. Your Excellency, congratulations and welcome.
