Ladies and Gentlemen,
The present meeting of the Executive Council marks a new stage in the process of institutional reform of our Union. It is expected to lay the foundation for the success of the first Extraordinary Summit exclusively devoted to this issue.
The meeting is taking place in a context that deserves special attention.

Announcement of the 11th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly
The 11th Extraordinary Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) will take place from 5th to 18th November 2018. Among other issues, the summit is expected to discuss: Update on the AU Institutional Reform process including reform of the AU Commission, mandate of the AU Development Agency (AUDA) and Financing the African Union. The extraordinary summit will be held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as scheduled below:
