Addis Abeba, 08 June 2018 – H.E. Prof Mafa Sejanamane, the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho has presented his letter of credence to the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat on 08 June 2018 at the AU Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 20th June 2018: Following recent reports published in African and international media in relation to allegations made concerning incidences of harassment of women at the African Union Commission (AUC), the Chairperson of the AUC, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat has appointed a High Level Committee to investigate the allegations and to provide a comprehensive report on their findings and submit appropriate recommendations for remedial action.

Kwesi Quartey today held bilateral talks with Ms. Annette Dixon, the Vice President for Human Development at the World Bank. Amb. Kwesi welcomed Ms. Annette’s presence at the African Union headquarters, in her maiden visit to Africa. The meeting acknowledged the importance of advancing the quality of human capacity, as a strategic approach to Africa’s structural transformation.

Addis Ababa, 20 June 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, welcomes the recent positive developments in the relations between Eritrea and Ethiopia. He notes in this respect the announcement made by Ethiopia on 5 June 2018, expressing its commitment to the full implementation of the Algiers Peace Agreement of 12 December 2000, as well as the decision of President Isaias Afwerki of the State of Eritrea, on 20 June 2018, to dispatch a delegation to Addis Ababa for constructive engagement with Ethiopia, which was welcomed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Addis Ababa, 20 June 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission joins all concerned stakeholders around the world to mark the Africa Refugee Day on 20 June 2018. He is concerned that we commemorate this day this year at a time of unprecedented level of forced displacement, irregular migration and protracted humanitarian crises. A total of 6.2 million refugees and asylum seekers in Africa have sought protection outside of their countries, while more than 12 million people are internally displaced.
Addis Ababa, 20 June 2018: The Department of Political Affairs of the African Union Commission (AUC) has deployed a five (5)-persons independent electoral assistance mission in Zimbabwe from 15 June 2018 to 8 July 2018 to provide technical support to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). The mission has been deployed in response to the request for technical assistance made by the ZEC during the visit to Zimbabwe by the AUC leadership in February 2018 led by the Chairperson, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 19 June, 2018: The Sustainable Development Goals Center for Africa (SDGC/A) launched the Africa SDG Index and Dashboards 2018 Report, in partnership with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The launch was held at the Africa Union Conference Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The 2018 report was presented to Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of the African Union, UN agencies, government officials and other stakeholders.
