The central theme of the meeting is one of the guiding strategic priorities adopted at the 5th African Union (AU) - European Union (EU) Summit held in Abidjan in November 2017.

What: The Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES) Meeting of Reference Group on Infrastructure (RGI)

Why: The RGI is mandated to steer the strategic Infrastructure Roadmap in the framework of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy. At their annual meeting, the Group will address the 2018-2020 Africa-EU infrastructure agenda across sectors (energy, water, transport, and digitalisation).

Addis Ababa, 11th May 2018 - In preparation for the first pan African exhibition of education innovations, the Human Resources, Science and Technology Department of the African Union Commission (AUC) together with a representative from the Embassy of Senegal, held a meeting with key partners on 11th May 2018 at the AU headquarters. The meeting was called to apprise the partners of the concept and objectives of the Expo to be hosted by the Government of Senegal from 27-29 September,2018.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 14 May 2018: As African Ministers of Finance gathered in Addis Ababa to seek an integrated approach to the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, the African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Amb. Kwesi Quartey lauded the progress on the implementation process of the historic decision, “the ratification process has begun in earnest, with two countries, Kenya and Ghana, having already deposited their Instruments of Ratification. Rwanda and Niger have also signed the agreement.

Addis Ababa - 10th May 2018: AU Ministries Responsible for Gender and Women’s Affairs converged today Thursday 10th May at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the Ministerial Segment of the Third Ordinary Session of the AU Specialized Technical Committee on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (STC-GEWE)

The Session opened in the presence of Ministers from AU Members States, the Regional Economic Communities, and representatives from the development partners and international organizations.

Addis Ababa, 14 May 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, notes with deep concern the prevailing situation in the Palestinian territories, following the relocation of the United States Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. He strongly condemns the disproportionate use of force by the Israeli army, which resulted in the killing of over fifty Palestinian demonstrators, while many more were wounded.
