AFRICATALKS ON YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IN DEMOCRACY AND GOVERNANCE TRENDS.

 

WHAT: The African Union, led by the African Governance Architecture under the Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department will lead the Africa Talks on youth engagement in democracy, governance trends, and peace processes. Additionally, an event on women engagement in gender peace and security will be convened.

WHERE: Dubai Cares building, African Union Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

BACKGROUND

The AfricaTalks Platform on Democratic Governance Trends at the Expo 2020 Dubai, will provide a platform for young people across Africa to showcase their initiatives and ideas that are contributing to the culture of good governance, entrenching democratic values, creating social cohesion, bridging social religious and tribal divides, building common vision, creating different platforms for dialogue, blowing the lid on wide spread corruption, trafficking of illegal arms and many more - ultimately contributing to creating a peaceful and prosperous communities in Africa – Silencing the Guns.

The AfricaTalks’ objectives are;

  • To institutionalize best practices sharing whereby young people get specific opportunity to showcase their initiatives contributions to Silencing the Guns in Africa.
  • To provide a platform for African young innovators onto the global policy space;
  • To advocate, explore and exploit opportunities to build formidable partnerships and coordination with other regional youth networks to advance Youth Ambassadors for Peace and Security YPS globally.
