Invitation to representatives of the media

 

The African Union Border Program (AUBP) will hold a Meeting of African Ministers in charge of Border Issues on Thursday, 06 October 2016. The meeting was preceded by the Governments’ Experts Meeting From 03-05 October 2016. The objective of the meeting is to review the status of implementation of the AUBP and attend to pressing border issues on the continent, particularly on the revision of the deadline for the demarcation of all African borders, at the latest in 2017. The meeting will also adopt a Strategy document on the Integrated Border Management recommended by the 3rd Conference of Ministers held in Niamey and the recommendations of the AU on the borders by 2063.

 

Within this framework, the AU Commission wishes to invite members of the press to a press briefing on Thursday, 06 October 2016, beginning at 16:00Hrs to be addressed by Ambassador Smail Chergui, Commissioner for Peace and Security.

The briefings will be held at the Mandela Hall New Conference Building.
