AUC Chairperson received H.E. Evgeny Terekhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ethiopia & Rep to the AU
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received H.E. Evgeny Terekhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ethiopia & Rep to the AU.
They exchanged on the AU–Russia cooperation, preparations for the 2nd Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, developments in the Sahel, the AU-led peacekeeping in Somalia, capacity-building initiatives.
They agreed to enhance coordination in amplifying Africa’s common position ahead of the Climate Summit in Brazil.
The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Russia’s principled support, including at the UN Security Council. Amb. Terekhin commended the Chairperson’s strong engagement at #UNGA80 in championing Africa’s priorities & strengthening the continent’s global agency.
