H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, 30 December 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has followed with increasing concern the unfolding political developments in the Sudan, which has witnessed violence and death on the streets of its cities, wanton destruction, alongside arrests of several opposition figures.
Noting that further demonstrations are planned for 31 December 2018 across the country, the Chairperson calls upon all sides to exercise utmost restraint in the coming period.
As 2018 draws to a close, I would like, on behalf of the African Union (AU) Commission, to wish a happy and prosperous 2019 to all the citizens and leaders of the continent, as well as to the African diaspora around the world.

Addis Abéba, le 8 janvier 2019: Le Président de la Commission de l’Union africaine, Moussa Faki Mahamat, prend acte de la proclamation, ce jour, par la Haute Cour constitutionnelle (HCC), des résultats définitifs du second tour de l’élection présidentielle à Madagascar, qui a eu lieu le 19 décembre 2018. Il exprime ses félicitations chaleureuses à M. Rajoelina Andry Nirina, pour sa brillante élection sur la base d’un programme prometteur, qui a recueilli un large soutien populaire.
