Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Outbreak Update: Since the last brief (10 August 2021), 4,556,501 new confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, including 68,634 new deaths, have been reported globally. To date, a global total of 207,218,563 COVID-19 cases and 4,362,968 related deaths (case fatality ratio (CFR): 2.1%) have been reported from 225 countries and territories to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The African Union Commission’s Women, Gender and Youth Directorate in partnership with UNICEF, UNFPA, and UN Women hosted a Virtual Couch Talk to commemorate Pan African Women’s Day on 30th July 2021 themed “Building the Africa We Want: The Role of Youth in Fostering Gender Equality”.
Ethiopian Airlines Group and A-e Trade Group, have signed MoU to establish the East African smart logistics and fulfilment hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Solomon Begashaw, Global Director, Cargo Sales, and Services, representing Ethiopian Airlines and Mr. Mulualem Syoum, CEO and Chairman of A-e Trade Group at the Headquarters of the African Union Commission on 31 July 2021.
