The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) today received additional 500,000 COVID-19 test kits from the German Government through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As part of the EU’s global coronavirus response, the test kits were delivered by an EU Humanitarian Air Bridge flight in August.

The outgoing Norwegian Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E. Mr. Morten Aasland paid a farewell call on H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) at AU Headquarters as he ends his tour of duty.

After the exchange of pleasantries, the Deputy Chairperson congratulated Ambassador Aasland for his successful tour of duty in Africa’s diplomatic capital - Addis Ababa and commended his sterling contribution towards strengthening the existing diplomatic, political as well as economic relations between Norway and Africa.

ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA, 21 AUGUST 2020 H.E. Amira Elfadil Mohammed, Commissioner for Social Affairs, African Union Commission; H.E. Dr Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy; and Dr John Nkengasong, Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) launched the “Africa Against COVID-19: Saving Lives, Economies and Livelihoods” campaign during the Africa CDC weekly press briefing on COVID-19 on 20th August.
