Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA, 24 FEBRUARY 2020. The Chairperson, African Union Commission, H.E. Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat, said that the Commission will strengthen partnerships and coordination across Africa to respond to the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.
Addis Ababa, 24 February 2020: The taskforce met on 20 February 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Convened as a follow up to the September 2019, New York meeting that was held at the margins of the high-level General Debate of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, the meeting noted with concern the deplorable and deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in Libya.

Your presence here this morning bears testimony to the importance that our States attach to the epidemic known as COVID-19 which affects the People's Republic of China and 25 other countries around the world.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 20 February, 2020: Technical Experts from African Union Commission (AUC), International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Labour organization (ILO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) Liaison Offices (East African Community, Economic Community of West African States, Economic Community of Central African States, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa and Intergovernmental Authority on Development) met to discuss progress, challenges and opportunities in the implementation of the
Ministers of Health of African Union Member States will meet this weekend to discuss a continental strategy for preparedness and response to the coronavirus disease outbreak.
Discussions focused on peace and security challenges in the Sahel, Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia.
The just concluded African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, afforded various platforms to rally support and advance actions towards the implementation of commitments on gender equality and women’s empowerment. African women and girls were keen to build the momentum and consolidate the gains realized over the years in its efforts to close the existing gender gaps. In recommitting to scale up actions for the progressive gender inclusion towards sustainable development, African leaders declared 2020 to 2030 the new Decade of Women’s Financial and Economic Inclusion.
His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya, has assumed the Chair of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), a coalition of African Heads of State and Government advancing advocacy efforts, resource mobilization and accountability in the fight against malaria across Africa.
