H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) today received additional 500,000 COVID-19 test kits from the German Government through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As part of the EU’s global coronavirus response, the test kits were delivered by an EU Humanitarian Air Bridge flight in August.

The outgoing Norwegian Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E. Mr. Morten Aasland paid a farewell call on H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) at AU Headquarters as he ends his tour of duty.
After the exchange of pleasantries, the Deputy Chairperson congratulated Ambassador Aasland for his successful tour of duty in Africa’s diplomatic capital - Addis Ababa and commended his sterling contribution towards strengthening the existing diplomatic, political as well as economic relations between Norway and Africa.

Africa CDC weekly engagement with members of the media to provide critical update on the coordinated efforts by African Union Member States to implement the joint continental strategy in response to COVID-19. It also highlights key steps taken to support the PACT initiative across countries and other countermeasures by Africa CDC and other partners to minimize social harm caused by the disease outbreak in Africa.
