Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The just concluded African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, afforded various platforms to rally support and advance actions towards the implementation of commitments on gender equality and women’s empowerment. African women and girls were keen to build the momentum and consolidate the gains realized over the years in its efforts to close the existing gender gaps. In recommitting to scale up actions for the progressive gender inclusion towards sustainable development, African leaders declared 2020 to 2030 the new Decade of Women’s Financial and Economic Inclusion.
His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya, has assumed the Chair of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), a coalition of African Heads of State and Government advancing advocacy efforts, resource mobilization and accountability in the fight against malaria across Africa.

Launch of the First Continental Report on Implementation of Agenda 2063
The First Continental Report on the Implementation of Agenda 2063 was launched today on the margins of the 33nd Ordinary Summit of the African Union. The report is an assessment of 31 African Union Member States and six Regional Economic Communities towards achieving Africa’s blueprint and master plan for sustainable development and economic growth.
