It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The engagements focused on advancing the operationalization of the African Union Accountability Framework, with a view to strengthening legal and community-based justice systems to enhance the protection of children and adolescents against cross-border trafficking, rights violations, and exploitation.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, joins the international community in commemorating the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
On this solemn occasion, the AUC Chairperson pays tribute to the millions of African women, men and children who were forcibly uprooted, subjected to inhumane suffering, and deprived of their dignity and fundamental rights, in what remains one of the darkest chapters in human history.
This afternoon, AU Commission Chairperson H.E. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf conferred with H.E. Alexis Lamek, Ambassador of France to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU.
During their meeting, they discussed the upcoming preparations for the AUC–France High-Level Dialogue that will take place in Paris next month, and also the Africa Forward Summit (11–12 May, Nairobi).
The Chairperson & Ambassador Lamek reaffirmed a shared commitment to multilateralism, peace & security, & a strengthened Africa–France partnership in an evolving global landscape.
