Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

What: The African Union Commission, through the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia, and the Alliance2015 members is organizing a high-level launching event of the Global Hunger Index 2025 under the theme “20 Years of Tracking Progress: Time to Recommit to Zero Hunger”
The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, this afternoon received Donald Kaberuka, AU Special Envoy on Sustainable Financing for the Union & Financing for Peace in Africa, for consultations on advancing the reform agenda of the AU.
The discussions formed part of the Chairperson’s ongoing consultations, in line with the guidance of the AU Assembly at its 39th Ordinary Session, on strengthening institutional reforms & ensuring the effective implementation of the Union’s mandate.
The African Union Commission (AUC), through its Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (WGYD), commemorated the International Women’s Day 2026, under the theme “Honouring Women of the African Union: Voices, Work and Community,” recognising the diverse contributions of women across all levels of the institution. The celebration, held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, highlighted the vital roles women play in sustaining the Union’s work, from leadership and policy development to administration, security, cleaning and other essential services.

The African Union Commission (AUC), the World Bank Group (WBG) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) convened a high-level technical workshop and a High-Level Dinner in Addis Ababa on 16 February 2026 to strengthen collaboration on expanding equitable access to essential medical products and accelerating local manufacturing across Africa in line with aspirations of Agenda 2063.
