The Chairperson of the @_AfricanUnion Commission @ymahmoudali met with H.E. @TayeAtske, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of #Ethiopia at the State House. Their discussions focused on regional peace and security, the AU’s mediation efforts in South Sudan, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as ongoing institutional reforms within the AU, including financial sovereignty and sustainable funding for peace support operations.

This afternoon, H.E. @ymahmoudali, Chairperson of the AUC, received H.E. @DrWorkneh, Executive Secretary of #IGAD to exchange on recent developments in the region. They reaffirmed the imperative of coordinated engagement on Somalia, Sudan, and South Sudan, and reiterated their shared commitment to the principle of subsidiarity and strengthened AU–REC collaboration for greater coherence and effectiveness.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has learned with deep sorrow of the passing of H.E. Amara Essy of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.

On behalf of the African Union Commission and the entire African Union family, the Chairperson conveys his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as to the family and loved ones of the late H.E. Amara Essy.
