It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, welcomed the peace agreement signed between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as an important step towards ending hostilities, reducing tensions, and advancing lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
The African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, and the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) today officially opened the Twenty-First African Continental Climate Outlook Forum (ACCOF-21), alongside with the Continental Dialogue on Climate-Sector Nexus, under the theme: "Preparing Africa for El Niño 2026/2027: Strengthening Readiness to Anticipate and Manage Climate Shocks."
The African Union Committee of Experts on Reparations (AUCER) and the African Union Reference Group of Legal Experts on Reparations (AULER) convened their Second Meeting from 1 to 5 June 2026 via virtual platform. A joint plenary session was held on 1 June 2026, followed by dedicated AUCER sessions on 2–3 June and AULER sessions on 4-5 June, chaired respectively by Dr. Jane Mufamadi (AUCER) and Prof. Alain Didier Olinga (AULER).
H.E Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi received on 16 June 2026, on behalf of H.E Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission; H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania and High Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
A discussion on a wide array of issues was held on H.E Kikwete’s mandate, lauding his critical role in the AU’s efforts to silence the guns and promote Peace and political stability in the country.
Theme: Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa
The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, joined AU leaders, international partners, UN agencies, & regional organisations at the AU High Level Meeting on the #Ebola outbreak, convened & chaired by H.E. Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi and Chairperson of the African Union.
The Summit served as a platform to mobilise urgent political commitment, financial resources, & operational support to strengthen Africa’s collective response to the outbreak & reinforce continental health security.

The African Union Commission Semi-arid Food Grain Research and Development (SAFGRAD) has organized, in collaboration with the host country Egypt, United Nation Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Arabe Fund for Technical to African Countries (AFTAAC), The African Union Development Agency – Partnership for Africa's Development (AUDA-NEPAD) and The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) a preparatory meeting for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17).
