The African Union Organizes Humanitarian Law and Policy Training Programme in Malabo
Malabo, Equatorial Guinea 6 to 8 December 2017: The second AU Humanitarian Law and Policy Training Programme took place from 6 – 8 December 2017 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The training was organized by the African Union Commission (AU), in close collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Department of Political Affairs, the focal department on all matters related to Humanitarian Law within the African Union Commission and the AUCIL co-organized the training.

CIDO to hold an AU-ECOSOCC Pre-Summit meeting on Corruption, Socio-Economic and Political Challenges of the Continent
December 18, 2017, Arusha, Tanzania– The Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) of the African Union Commission (AUC) in its capacity as the Secretariat of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), will hold a pre-Summit meeting on 18 – 20 December in Arusha, Tanzania. This pre-summit that will precede the African Union Summit will dwelt on taking steps to account for and reflect on the socio-economic and political development and challenges of the continent with particular focus on the 2017 theme of the year ‘Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investment in Youth”.

Joint AU-EU-UN Taskforce Meeting to Address the Migrant Situation in Libya
Brussels, Belgium, 14 December 2017- As the African Union continues to step up its exchanges with African countries of origin to provide consular services to their nationals in Libya and granting of landing rights and neighbouring countries to grant over flight permits. The AU also welcomes and encourages its Member States to receive and resettle refugees and asylum seekers who cannot go back to their countries of origin and further welcomes those Member States that have offered logistic support to the evacuation exercise.
