Fifth African Union – European Union Summit kicks off at Senior Officials level

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, 26 November 2017 – Holding under the theme "Investment in Youth for Accelerated Inclusive growth and sustainable development", the Fifth African Union - European Union (AU-EU) Summit scheduled for 29-30 November 2017 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, commenced today with a pre-summit Senior Officials meeting attended by Ambassadors of the African Union Member States, high officials from the AU Commission and representatives from the European Union Member States.

Addis Ababa, 25 November 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, strongly condemns the terrorist attacks perpetrated against the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), in the regions of Meneka and Mopti, on 24 November 2017. These attacks resulted in the death of four peacekeepers (three Nigeriens and one Burkinabé), as well as one Malian soldier, while several other personnel were injured.

Bujumbura, Burundi 20 November 2017 - A regional advocacy meeting on the promotion of ratification of the African Charter on the Values and Principles of Decentralization, Local Governance and local Development for the Central Africa Region held in Bujumbura, Burundi to discuss issues and agree upon actions and recommendations aimed at sensitizing and engaging AU Member States from Central Africa Region on the importance of the ratification of the Charter.
Over 25 delegates attended the three-day (3) meeting which will have the following outcomes:
