The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has appointed H.E. Ambassador Jainaba Jagne of the Republic of The Gambia as the African Union Special Envoy for Children Affected by Armed Conflict (CAAC).

In line with the decisions of the AU Peace and Security Council, this appointment underscores the Commission’s commitment to advancing the continental Child Rights Agenda in conflict and post-conflict contexts, and to strengthening advocacy, coordination, and accountability in addressing the grave violations against children in Africa.
