Focus on anticipatory systems and disaster risk financing mechanisms tailored to African contexts

In a significant step toward strengthening continental cooperation in the extractive industries, His Excellency Ambassador Allamaye Halina, Prime Minister and Head of Government of the Republic of Chad, granted an official audience today to Her Excellency Francisca Tatchouop Belobe, African Union (AU) Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals (ETTIM).

N’DJAMENA, REPUBLIC OF CHAD – January 21, 2026 – H.E. Ms. Francisca Tatchouop Belobe, the African Union Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals (ETTIM), arrived in N’Djamena today to participate in the International Mining, Quarries and Hydrocarbons Conference & Exhibition (SEMICA Tchad). Addressing a High-Level Panel, the Commissioner outlined a transformative strategy to move African nations from simple resource extraction to becoming a global hub for green industrialization.

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, this afternoon received H.E. Johann David Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Chairperson and Minister Wadephul reaffirmed the strategic depth and enduring importance of the African Union–Germany partnership, underscoring their shared commitment to multilateralism, peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development.

The Chairperson of the Commission commends the notable progress achieved by the Central African Republic, under the leadership of the Head of State, in the areas of security, post-conflict recovery and sustainable economic development, including the National Development Plan ( 2024-2028),gradual improvement of the security situation, the implementation of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration and Repatriation (DDR/R) process for armed groups, and the redeployment of State authority over an increasing portion of the national territory.
