AFRIPOL – Strives for Strengthening Continental Police Cooperation

The African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) successfully convened the Sixth Meeting of the Heads of National Liaison Offices (NLOs) in Algiers, Algeria, from 2 to 4 December 2025. Organized in line with Article 11 of the AFRIPOL Statute. The meeting was attended by m more than forty AU Member States delegates, alongside representatives from AU-CTC, the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), the AU Office of the Legal Counsel (OLC), China and INTERPOL.

The African Union (AU) successfully convened the 6th High-Level Africa Forum on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in Tunis, Tunisia. The Forum was held under the theme: "25 Years of UNSCR 1325: Leveraging Multilateral Diplomacy to Reinforce Africa’s Women, Peace and Security Agenda in a Shifting Global Order."

AUC Chairperson underscored Africa’s deep energy paradox: a continent rich in resources where 600M people lack electricity and 900M still rely on biomass.

At the opening of the African #Energy Efficiency Ministerial Conference at the African Union (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this morning, the Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali underscored Africa’s deep energy paradox: a continent rich in resources where 600M people lack electricity and 900M still rely on biomass. He called for urgent action to overcome the triple dilemma of energy security, affordability, and regional connectivity.
