The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, warmly congratulates the Government and people of Cabo Verde as they celebrate another year of independence.

Today, we celebrate Cabo Verde’s incredible journey of freedom, unity, and growth. The African Union remains dedicated to collaborating closely with Cabo Verde to support regional integration, sustainable development, and peace across Africa.

Together with the people of Cabo Verde, we mark this important milestone and wish them ongoing prosperity and success in the future.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali received H.E. Mahamat Ali Hassan, Ambassador of Chad to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU this morning. They discussed the political & humanitarian situation in the Sahel & Sudan, and the need for a diplomatic solution to these situations.

The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Chad’s contributions & support to the African Union.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Burundi on the occasion of the anniversary of their independence.

This day marks a historic milestone in Burundi’s journey towards freedom, sovereignty, and national dignity. It is a moment to honor the courage, determination, and sacrifices of the Burundian people who fought for self-determination and laid the foundation for a united and sovereign nation.

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, convened a landmark working lunch with Permanent Representatives of the AU Regional Economic Community (RECs) & Regional Mechanisms. He reaffirmed their central role in delivering on continental priorities for integration, peace, security, & resilience, in line with AU protocols.

He underscored the importance of institutionalised coordination, & joint planning to help achieve AU Agenda 2063.
