Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 26thFebruary 2016:The African Union (AU) Medical Services Directorate commemorated the Africa Healthy Lifestyle Day today, 26th February, 2016 at the African Union Commission (AUC) Headquarters. The Directorate of Medical Services celebrated the day with the Slogan:Less Sugar. More Life; Diabetes Kills one Person Every 7 Seconds; and Change Today for Healthier Tomorrow under the umbrella of the Theme: “Live Healthy, Prevent Diabetes”.The activities were highly attended by AU, African Member States Staff as well as Ministers and Ambassadors.

President Mugabe hands over 300 head of cattle to the African Union Foundation

Harare, Zimbabwe –26 February 2016: H.E Robert Mugabe, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe on Thursday 25 February 2016, handed over 300 head of cattle to a delegation of the African Union led by H.E. Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC). The donation in kind, was a pledge made by President Mugabe to the African Union Foundation last year in his capacity as Chairman of the African Union (AU).

AU delegation arrives Saharawi Refugee Camps to celebrate 40th anniversary of Saharawi Republic proclamation

Saharawi Republic – 25 February 2016: An African Union delegation, led by the Commissioner for Social Affairs, Dr. Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko, has arrived in the Saharawi refugee camps near Tindouf, Algeria, ahead of celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

The Commissioner is due to deliver a solidarity message on behalf of the AU Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, during a solemn ceremony planned for 27 February 2016, in Dakhla Refugee Camp in Tindouf.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 25 February 2016 - The Commissioner for Trade and Industry, H. E. Mrs. Fatima Haram Acyl was interviewed yesterday in the studio of the Ethiopian Afro Radio 105.3 FM. The objective of the interview was to bring the Department of Trade and Industry’s initiatives to both the policymaking and grassroots levels. She stressed Africa's dire need to accelerate industrialization in order to address the huge unemployment issue facing Africa especially for the rising youth population.

The high level AU delegation to the Republic of Mauritius discussed among other current issues, preparations ahead of the inaugural African Economic Platform (AEP) to be held in Port Louis, Mauritius from 14 to 15 April 2016.
