Harare, Zimbabwe 30 July 2018- Voting in Zimbabwe’s harmonized presidential, parliamentary and council elections started off across the country at 7am this morning,

H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, 29 July 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is closely following developments in the Comoros in the context of the constitutional referendum to be held on 30 July 2018. He expresses concern at the prevailing tension and differences among political stakeholders and at their potential consequences on the long-term stability of the archipelago.
Harare, 1 August 2018- H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn Boshe views with concern the unfolding post-election developments in Zimbabwe, and calls on all stakeholders, particularly political leaders and their supporters, to exercise restraint and avoid violent confrontation. He also calls on security agencies to equally exercise restraint and ensure the safety of all citizens.
H.E Hailemariam Dessalegn Boshe reiterates his statement released on 1 August 2018, in which he called on any aggrieved parties to channel their grievances through appropriate legal channels.

Addis Ababa 27 July 2018 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 26 July 2018 between the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA). The MOU was signed by the Director of Programming, Budgeting, Finance and Accounting, Mrs. Assietou Diouf, representing the AU Commission and the Chief Executive Officer of PAFA, Mr. Vickson Ncube. The signing ceremony took place at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
