Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 4th April 2016 - H.E Mr. Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) on 1st April 2016, received in audience the Chief Executive Officer of the APRM Secretariat, Professor. Eddie Maloka, who briefed him about the just concluded Expert Group Meeting on the revitalization of the African Peer Review Mechanism held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Professor Maloka expressed his optimism and keenness on the revitalization of APRM.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 05 April 2016: The African Ministers of Finance, Planning, Economic Development and Integration concluded their 9th annual meeting on 5th April 2016 with a strong call for the domestication of Agenda 2063 and 2030 for Sustainable Development which they said, offers a unique opportunity for Africa to achieve inclusive and transformative development with equity. The Ministers further recognized the role of Regional integration through the RECs in the implementation of both developments agendas.

The AUC Chairperson approves the deployment of African Union Short Term Election Observation Missions to Djibouti and Chad.

Addis-Ababa, 5 April 2016: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, has authorized the deployment of the Short Term Electoral Observation Missions (AUEOM) for the Presidential Elections scheduled for 8 April 2016 in the Republic of Djibouti and on 10 April 2016 in the Republic of Chad.

The missions will be undertaken from 06 to 14 April 2016 and will be led respectively by:

Ø Djibouti : H.E. Soumana Sako, Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Mali

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 4th April 2016: The Department of Social Affairs held a joint high-level roundtable to discuss governance issues in the multi-stakeholder responses to the Ebola virus disease (EVD) in West Africa in partnership with the Institute for Peace and Security Studies, Addis Ababa University; the African Peace Building Network Program of the Social Science Research Council; the Oxfam International Liaison Office with the AU; and the UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa.
