Capacity Building Workshop on Electoral Systems
Nairobi 5th July 2017 -The Department of Political Affairs (DPA) of the African Union Commission in collaboration with the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) of Somalia has concluded a three-day BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) training workshop on Electoral Systems.
The BRIDGE workshop took place from 3-5 July 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya. It consisted of twenty participants comprising senior NIEC officials as well as policy makers involved in the constitution-making process as well as the drafting of the electoral law.
AUC and UNFPA recommit to accelerate efforts to implement roadmap to harness the demographic dividend through investments in youth
Addis Ababa, 5th July 2017- The African Union Commission and the United Nations Population Fund met Saturday to discuss joint action to accelerate the implementation of the African Union Roadmap to Harness the Demographic Dividend through Investments in Youth. The Roadmap was endorsed by the Heads of State and Government in January this year.

Addis Ababa, 3 July 2017- The Africa Union Champion on Ending Child Marriage, His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu of Zambia presented the progress report on the Campaign to end Child Marriage to the 29th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union. The report highlights significant efforts and challenges in Member States in ending the practice while emphasizing a number of legal and policy reforms and community mobilisation and sustained political commitment.
