The African Union Commission is organizing the Seventh Meeting of the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) Negotiating Forum (CFTA-NF) from 02-07 October 2017 in Ethiopia. The Objective of the meeting is to consider the draft Texts of the CFTA Agreement and its Annexes and Appendices proposed by the Technical Working Groups (TWGs). Furthermore, the Chief Negotiators will discuss criteria for designating sensitive products and exclusion list in the modalities for tariff liberalization.

Addis Ababa, 3 October 2017: As the Republic of Kenya prepares for fresh presidential election on 26 October 2017, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, will deploy an African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to Kenya.
The deployment of the AUEOM takes place in two phases. The first phase comprises five (5) election experts and takes place from 24 September – 9 November 2017. This is to ensure that the AUEOM conducts a comprehensive observation and analysis of all relevant aspects of the electoral process.

Addis Ababa, 29 September 2017: At the invitation of the Government and National Electoral Commission of Liberia, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, has approved the deployment of a Short-Term Election Observation Mission to Liberia to observe the country’s presidential and legislative elections scheduled for 10 October 2017.
