AU delegation arrives Saharawi Refugee Camps to celebrate 40th anniversary of Saharawi Republic proclamation

Saharawi Republic – 25 February 2016: An African Union delegation, led by the Commissioner for Social Affairs, Dr. Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko, has arrived in the Saharawi refugee camps near Tindouf, Algeria, ahead of celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

The Commissioner is due to deliver a solidarity message on behalf of the AU Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, during a solemn ceremony planned for 27 February 2016, in Dakhla Refugee Camp in Tindouf.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 25 February 2016 - The Commissioner for Trade and Industry, H. E. Mrs. Fatima Haram Acyl was interviewed yesterday in the studio of the Ethiopian Afro Radio 105.3 FM. The objective of the interview was to bring the Department of Trade and Industry’s initiatives to both the policymaking and grassroots levels. She stressed Africa's dire need to accelerate industrialization in order to address the huge unemployment issue facing Africa especially for the rising youth population.

Port Louis, Mauritius – 25 February - H.E. Mr Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) on 24 February 2016, concluded a three-day official mission to Mauritius. The high level AU delegation to the Republic of Mauritius discussed among other current issues, preparations ahead of the inaugural African Economic Platform (AEP) to be held in Port Louis, Mauritius from 14 to 15 April 2016.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - 24 February, 2016 - The 1st Meeting of the Continental Free Trade Area Negotiating Forum (CFTA-NF), kicked off today at the African Union Commission (AUC) Headquarters in Addis Ababa. During the next three days, Member States will consider the post launch preparatory issues and essential process issues and technical documents that will enable the efficient conduct of the negotiations. The Meeting will consider and adopt the Rules of Procedure for the CFTA Negotiating Forum.
