2nd KNOWLEDGE CAFÉ ON EDUCATION DATA SYSTEMS FOR KIX DCPs

What:  The African Union Commission (AUC), through the Pan African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED) and as part of the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange GPE-KIX Africa 19 consortium, is convening the Second Knowledge Café for Developing Country Partners (DCPs). The session will explore the theme: “Responsive National education management information systems (EMIS) Policies to Education Data Systems Strengthening”.

When: 22 July 2025, from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm (EAT)

Registration should be done in advance. After registration, a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting is sent to the participant.

Who: The African Union Commission through the African Union Pan African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED), in collaboration with the Global Partnership for Education’s Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Why:

This continental dialogue is a practical space for countries to share what is working and what is not, in strengthening their EMIS. The Knowledge Café connects EMIS policymakers and technical leads across Africa in an open exchange of experiences, ideas, and emerging strategies.

Objectives

  • Assess the effectiveness of national EMIS policies in strengthening education data systems
  • Facilitate peer learning and knowledge exchange among African countries
  • Highlight innovations and persistent challenges in implementing data-driven education policies
  • Contribute to building resilient, responsive, and inclusive education data ecosystems
