For the first time since Operationalization of all its governing bodies, the African Union Peace Fund convened a Pre-Retreat engagement session on Wednesday, May 6th in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, marking the beginning of an upcoming Joint Retreat that will bring together the Fund’s governing bodies in person on a coordinated platform for the first time.
The Pre-Retreat Session serves as a foundational platform leading to the Joint Retreat, which represents a significant institutional milestone for the Peace Fund. This reflects the continued evolution of its governance architecture and reinforces the African Union’s commitment to strengthening coordination, accountability, and institutional cohesion across the Peace Fund ecosystem.
The session provides an opportunity for key stakeholders to initiate discussions and align on operational priorities, fiduciary standards, governance expectations, and coordination mechanisms proceeding. It further establishes a framework for constructive in-person dialogue that will support the strategic objectives of the upcoming retreat.
The Joint Retreat aims to provide a platform for strategic dialogue among all governance bodies, fostering greater alignment on priorities, strengthening collaboration between oversight and operational structures, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Fund.
