What: Arrival of the Head of AU Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Republic of Malawi H.E. John Dramini Mahama, Former President of the Republic of Ghana
When: Sunday, 19th May 2019

Where: Amaryllis Hotel, Blantyre, Malawi

Who: Democracy and Electoral Assistance Unit at the African Union Commission

Objective: The deployment of an AUEOM to Malawi reflects AU Commission’s desire and aspiration for an Africa of good governance, democracy, and respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law in all of AU member states.

Background:

Following an invitation from the Government and Malawi Electoral Commission of Malawi, the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, has approved the re-deployment of African Union (AU) observers to observe the conduct of the election on the 21st May 2019. The AU short-term observers have been redeployed to the country from 14th of May 2019 to 25th May 2019.

Media representatives in Malawi are therefore being invited to take part and cover the activities of the AUEOM.
