PARTNERS’ COORDINATION CONFERENCE ON WATER AND SANITATION PROGRAMME IN AFRICA
INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA
WHAT: African Union (AU) in collaboration with the Secretariat of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) to hold the partners coordination conference on water and sanitation
DATE: 3rd – 4th OCTOBER 2019
TIME: 8 A.M
WHERE: African Union Commission Conference Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
VENUE: Medium Conference Hall and Small Conference Room 2
WHO: Regional Economic Communities, River, Lake and Groundwater Basins Commissions responsible for Water and Sanitation, key Partners, Civil Society Organizations, and Academia.
WHY: The overall objective of the conference is to map out water and sanitation related initiatives and projects that are contributing towards implementation of the Sharma El-Sheikh Commitments and the Water Vision 2025 on the continent, and identify priorities and gaps to be filled by the African Union Commission.
Specifically, the stakeholder meeting aims to achieve the following:
To provide a forum for sharing interventions on Water and Sanitation in Africa.
Define a roadmap for the Partners to support the next round of the African Water report to the AU Assembly.
Expected Outcomes
Establishment of a unique platform all Partners working in the water sector to come on board to support the RECs and Member States;
Documentation of key Water and Sanitation related initiatives in Africa;
Recommendation of enhancing the implementation of the Africa water commitments.
Journalists are invited to cover the opening ceremony on October 3rd at 8 A.M. at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
