Weekly Press Briefing on Coronavirus Disease Outbreak in Africa
INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA
OVERVIEW: This briefing is a weekly engagement of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) with the media to share critical updates on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa and the status of implementing the adapted Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Outbreak, including Africa CDC’s response activities and the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in AU Member States.
Thursday’s briefing will focus on the potential fourth wave of the pandemic across many AU Member States as citizens prepare for the end-of-year holidays, and also highlights available scientific facts and all that scientists have gathered so far about the Omicron variant from ongoing research.
