What: JLMP Priority End of Project Learning Event and Launch of JLMP Lead
Theme: “African Labour Migration: Emerging Issues and Policy Response”
When: 7-8 March 2023, from 9.00am (GMT+3)
Where: Radisson Blu, Addis Ababa
Who: The African Union Commission, Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Labour Organization (ILO).
Why:
The JLMP Priority project came to an end on the 31st of March 2022. Given the amount of experience gathered within the 3 years implementation period and in consideration of the recommendation of the JLMP midterm evaluation and stakeholders to have a learning platform, the JLMP partners have scheduled an end of project workshop that will serve as a learning event for JLMP stakeholders.
The aim of the workshop is to share results, good practices and lesson learned as well as brainstorm on how future interventions will better serve beneficiaries’ needs. The event will serve as an avenue to disseminate the knowledge products prepared within the project. In addition, it will serve as a forum for resource mobilization in order to address the unfunded areas of the JLMP, in line with the Strategic Framework. Furthermore, during the learning event, implementing partners will receive input from labour migration experts (through panel discussions and presentation of research papers, reflecting emerging trends including on the impact of COVID-19 on labour migration in the continent) on different labour migration themes.
In preparation to the meeting the project will produce a brochure highlighting the achievements of JLMP to be disseminated among stakeholders and beneficiaries.
Objectives:
The objectives of the Meeting are to:

Showcase the results achieved by JLMP Priority;

Sensitize stakeholders on the knowledge products created by JLMP implementing partners during the duration of JLMP Priority;

Discuss good practices within the implementation of the JLMP Priority and the possibility of replicating them during the second phase of the project;

Discuss the challenges faced during the implementation of the project;
-
Identify partnerships and support opportunities that match and complement the synergy of programmes existing within the JLMP.
Expected outcome:
The expected Outcome from the workshop are:

Experiences, lessons learnt and good practices on the JLMP implementation are shared and disseminated;

Recommendations made on how to address implementation challenges and the future of JLMP new and upcoming initiatives;

Increased awareness and ownership of JLMP among partners;

Increased resources mobilized for JLMP future programmes; and
-
Improved visibility of JLMP.

The following participants are invited to the workshop: AU Regional Economic Communities, Member States, cooperation and financial partners, UN organisations, Embassies in Addis Ababa.
Representatives of the media are invited to cover the Learning event.
