What: Bilateral consultations between the African Union Commission and the Federal Government of Germany

Background:
The African Union Commission and the Federal Government of Germany are holding their annual bilateral consultations: The focus of this year’s bilateral discussions is on job creation for young people through enhancement of educational and vocational training. The delegation of the African Union Commission is chaired by H.E. Amb. Kwesi Quartey, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission. The German delegation will be chaired by H.E. Guenter Nooke, the German Federal Chancellor's Personal Representative for Africa in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Mr Georg Schmidt, Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Other topics will be German support for the Pan-African University, for the African Peace and Security Architecture and for the institutional capacity building of the African Union. The negotiations will conclude with a Signing Ceremony of the agreed areas for cooperation for 2018.
