The Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat calls upon The Sudanese parties to observe a total Ceasefire across the whole National territory throughout the holy month of Ramadan.   

The Chairperson recalls that such a ceasefire could help facilitate the dispatch of humanitarian aid to civilian populations in dire need.

The Chairperson urges all the parties to shoulder their responsibilities to prevent the serious risk of famine and other humanitarian catastrophes to befall the Sudanese people and the neighbouring States.

13 February 2023, Addis Ababa: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E.  Moussa Faki Mahamat, concluded a two-day working visit to Khartoum from 12-13 February 2023. He was accompanied by AU Commissioner of Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, Prof Mohamed Hacen El Lebatt, Chief of Staff,  Ambassador Mohamed Belaiche, AU Special Representative for Sudan and Ms Ebba Kalondo, Spokesperson to the AUC Chairperson.

Addis Ababa, 3 January 2022: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is deeply concerned by the latest developments in the political situation in Sudan, particularly the resignation of Prime Minister Dr Abdalla Hamdok, and the ongoing protests and violence in the country.

The Chairperson called on all national civilian and military actors to intensify their efforts to find a path towards consensual approaches and a peaceful resolution to the crisis, in conformity with the transitional political agreements.
