OVERVIEW: This briefing is a weekly engagement of the Africa Centres of Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) with the media to share critical updates on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa and the status of implementing the Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Outbreak, including Africa CDC’s response activities and the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in AU Member States.
The Special Envoy of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission is following with great concern the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on Palma and other districts of Mozambique’s northern province of Cabo Delgado and the impact on women and girls.

Addis Ababa, 22 March 2021: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, continues to monitor the developments in Somalia ahead of today's planned National Consultative Forum meeting to resolve the electoral impasse.
While the Chairperson is encouraged by the arrival in Mogadishu of leaders from all the Federal Member States, as well as other stakeholders, he is gravely concerned at reports that the meeting could take place without the participation all the FMS Presidents.
