May 19, 2016 to May 25, 2016

Are you an African writer or blogger? Passionate about youth and development issues on the continent? Aged between 15 and 35?
This is your opportunity. From the 21st to the 25th of May 2016, African youth, the African Union Commission (AUC) and various development partners will converge in the Gambian city of Banjul to reflect on the achievements, challenges and lessons learned from implementing the African Youth Charter (AYC) in the last ten years.
Dubbed ‘Banjul +10’, the event seeks to capture the creative, innovative and pro-active voices of African youth and utilise these voices as a tool to encourage decision makers to address the myriad issues young people on the continent face.
You are invited to share your writing skills with other youth on the continent by composing poems or articles / blogs (in English, French, Portuguese or Arabic) focusing on any of the following themes:
1. Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship
2. Climate Change and Development in Africa
3. Youth and Migration
4. Culture of Peace
5. Youth Leadership and Political Participation
6. Demographic dividend
7. Education and capacity building

Submissions can be made in one of two ways:
1. Upload the article on your blog and send the link to youth@africa-union.org
2. Send the document (in .docx / .doc format) to youth@africa-union.org
We look forward to reading your articles and sharing them throughout our various networks!
