As part of its efforts at implementing the African Union’s determination to increase the number of women in peace operations, the Gender Peace and Security Program, in collaboration with the Peace Support Operations Division, is commissioning a study on women’s participation in AU peace operations. The overall objective of the study is to establish the reason for underrepresentation of women in peace operations. The expected outcome of the study is an enhanced understanding of the reasons for women’s underrepresentation so as to develop targeted interventions for engagement with Member States.
